MARINOS TONGOY S.A., is a subsidiary of Fundación
Chile (a leader for more than 25 years in aquaculture
research
in Chile), with a commercial shellfish hatchery. It
was created in 1982 to produce and sell Japanese oyster
(Crassostrea gigas) larvae and seeds.
It has a production capacity for 2 billion eyes
larvae and 45 million seeds/year, which are
sold to the local
oyster farming sector as well as to South American
and African oyster growers.
It is one of the region’s biggest hatcheries with
extensive experience in rearing this species, so it can
ensure its clients availability throughout the year and
provide full assistance to those farmers who are starting
out or who have rearing difficulties.
